Hello, my name is Sharon.
I set up Basil’s Farm following 20 years of working in a Special School and teaching in the outdoors. I have seen first-hand the incredible benefits that outdoor learning can have on learners physical and mental wellbeing.
Each lesson at Basil’s Farm is specifically tailored to suit an individual’s needs and a typical day can involve a diverse range of activities. Learners can develop skills in animal care, tend to and grow vegetables in the allotment and learn how to cook food (which they have grown themselves) around the campfire. In addition, Learners can participate in crafts using materials grown on the farm. They develop confidence and learn how to relax in the outdoors whilst learning all the time.
Through my love of the outdoors, I encourage learners to use real life situations to learn STEM subjects and the various animals, including horses, dogs and poultry assist me when working with learners. I am a qualified Forest School Level 3 Leader who is fully insured, DBS checked, trained in Safeguarding and I am a qualified First Aider.
