For active people living with memory impairment or memory loss.
When a person has experienced the effects of a stroke or may have been diagnosed with short-term memory impairment, they can often feel a sense of frustration and isolation. Family members are frequently at a loss as to how to combat these symptoms and may be desperate to do something positive to help alleviate the condition.
To help with this, we offer individual assistance to those who are faced with memory loss, either due to a sudden trauma (such as a stroke) or from the effects of the onset of age-related memory impairment or dementia.
Working closely together with the client and their family using various techniques and routines, an increased level of confidence and an improved feeling of well-being can be established. Long-term benefits may lead to enhanced overall awareness as well as greater independence and a better quality of life.
Mainly aimed at more physically active clients who have relatively recently been diagnosed with symptoms, a programme of one-to-one activities can be developed with the co-operation of the client whereby they will be stimulated both physically and mentally in a friendly and safe environment. While not suited to every client, this programme offers a combination of fun thought-provoking recreational pursuits (such as word-games or other puzzles), together with accompanied local walks and outings to exercise the body and mind within an organised framework.
Transport to local shops, cafes for a meal or a snack, the local Clinic or even to a barber for a shave or haircut can be included as part of the service, although our vehicle is not wheelchair compatible.
