Cantwara

Hi, I’m Caz and I’m excited to finally introduce my long-time project to the world!  I’ve been dreaming about this for over a decade in one form or another, but I’m starting small 😉

Cantwara is a friendly new community-based organisation set up with the intention of supporting people to connect with their local community.   In the first instance,  this will take the shape of ‘Hobby Hubs’, which are weekly get-togethers where you are invited to come and enjoy your own hobby in the company of like-minded souls.  We are essentially a social group based around pastimes.

I know there are many for whom there isn’t a local group that shares their interests; macrame, embroidery and lacemaking, for example.   Others may find that there just isn’t a group at all – I’m not sure how many jigsaw or crystal art groups there are out there!  And there are plenty of painting,  drawing and knitting groups about,  but could you join in with paint by numbers, a colouring book or loom knitting?  🤔

Also,  many might find that they’ve lost interest or motivation,  especially after the last few years – I know I certainly did.  It can be so hard to get back to rediscover them again.  That’s a big part of the reason I really started to focus on getting this project up and running.

So come and join us!  Whether you want to restart your interests, see what new ones you might find,  or just sit and chat for a bit (I won’t force you to join in) – I look forward to welcoming you 🤗

Oh, and if you’re wondering where the word Cantwara comes from – it’s the word that both Kent and Canterbury come from, and means ‘people on the edge’ – I kinda like it 😏  It’s either Roman or Celtic, I suspect Roman…
