Carers Week 2024: putting carers on the map

Carers Week is an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness of caring responsibilities and recognise the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers across the United Kingdom. This year, Carers Week will take place from 10th -16th June, with the theme of ‘Putting Carers on the Map.’

As part of the nationwide Carers Week campaign, Cyngor Gwynedd is hosting a series of events to recognise and support unpaid carers. Carers and their supporters can participate in various activities across the county, with highlights including a samba session which you can bring the whole family to, with some much-needed light refreshments afterwards. There is also a chance to try out a taster session with Dementia Actif who regularly have activities all over Gwynedd. Other highlights include a craft session where you will have the chance to do some felting with a local artist. There is something for everyone!

Cyngor Gwynedd are also busy arranging for 400 ‘wellbeing bags’ containing lots of information and a chance to enter a free raffle to win prizes from local companies.

As part of the week, Fran Lowden (Community Catalyst in Gwynedd) will be attending some of the sessions. She will be sharing information about the project that is helping local people to set up, develop, and grow their community micro-enterprise offering care and support to older or disabled people. She will also be sharing information about the enterprises that are already set up and able to offer high quality care and support in the area.

Keep your eye on the Community Catalyst Facebook page where we will be sharing more information about the week very soon.
